South Uist is the second largest of the islands in the Western Isles. It is connected by causeways with Benbecula and North Uist to the north and Eriskay to the south. Directions

Heading south from Benbecula on the A865 cross the causeway onto South Uist. Take the second road on your left (signed for Loch a Charnan, Orasay Inn & Salar Smokehouse). Continue straight on, past the Salar Smokehouse and the site is on your right opposite the Scottish Hydro Electric Station.
