Location

The site is located one mile west of the village of Lochcarron in Wester Ross, just above the foreshore of Loch Carron which is a haven for wildlife. This is an attractive tourist destination with many local amenities, including grocery store, post office, medical centre, bank and library. Leisure activities include a golf course, sailing, fishing, hill walking and climbing.

Directions

From Inverness take the A9 north over the Kessock Bridge and then follow signs for Gairloch and Kyle of Lochalsh via the A832 and A890 to Lochcarron. Once at Lochcarron follow the road through the village, and turn left onto Church Street towards Strone Castle and continue for about one mile. Just prior to the site there is a garage on the left hand side and the site is located 250 metres on the left. Turn into the new sewage works at Portmartin and park the car.

The site is located some 80 metres to the east of the sewage works at the far side of a field and accessed by a three foot gate through the fence. The site is easily identified due to the grey pole which marks the location.

Description

The site, which measures 7.3m x 4.6m (24ft x 15ft), is located some 25 metres above the foreshore, out-with the enclosed farmland, on unimproved ground sloping down to the sea. There is a septic tank 5m x 2m built above ground, but surrounded on three sides by rock landscaping.
